Born Charlotte Gabrielle Dubray

Alongside her husband, the academic painter Albert Besnard (1849–1934), Charlotte Besnard found inspiration in the joys of family life and the beauty of young girls and children. She was also the creator of the tomb of the Belgian Symbolist writer Georges Rodenbach in the Père-Lachaise Cemetery, as well as statuettes in earthenware or stoneware, often polychrome.
